Overview

The day everything you own is in a truck

Moving is stressful for a reason. It happens rarely, it has a hard deadline, it involves everything you own, and most of it depends on people you met that morning.

Our moving and relocation services are built around reducing that. Punctual arrival, careful handling, a crew who wrap and secure things properly, and a clear picture of what the day will cost before it starts. No renegotiation halfway through the afternoon and no surprise on the invoice.

As a local moving company working across the Greater Montreal area, we handle residential moves, apartment moves, single room relocations, furniture transportation and furniture delivery. Small jobs are genuinely welcome. A one room move is not a favour we are doing you.

  • Residential and apartment moves

Stairs, lifts and the Montreal walk-up

A third floor walk-up is a different job from a ground floor apartment, and any moving company that prices them identically has either padded the first quote or will overrun on the second.

So we ask at booking. Which floor, is there a lift, is it bookable, how wide is the staircase, and where can the vehicle actually stop. Those five answers determine the crew size and the time, and getting them right in advance is the difference between a move that finishes at two and one that finishes at seven.

Exterior staircases, the ones that define entire neighbourhoods here, are completely normal for us. So are narrow turns, low ceilings and doorways that a sofa should not physically fit through but somehow does.

Handling

How things survive the journey

Damage during a move almost never happens while the vehicle is moving. It happens in the doorway, on the stairs, or because something was loaded against something harder than itself.

Items are wrapped and secured for transit, and loading is done by our crew rather than left to you and whoever you talked into helping. Furniture is padded at the corners and edges that actually take the impact, and the load is built so nothing shifts when the vehicle brakes.

Fragile and high value items should be flagged at booking rather than discovered on the day. Glass, artwork, instruments, electronics. Planning for them costs nothing. Improvising around them at eight in the morning is how things get broken.

“VGTME has been a reliable and professional transportation partner for Workind. Their team has assisted us with occasional furniture moves of various types, always providing punctual, efficient, and attentive service. Each item was handled with care, and the team demonstrated great professionalism throughout every stage of the transportation process.”

Business and office moves

Relocations that cannot take a week

Businesses move under a constraint households do not have. The operation has to be running again on Monday. An office relocation that overruns is not an inconvenience, it is lost trading.

We handle office furniture, workstations, storage and equipment. For IT hardware specifically we apply the careful handling that servers, workstations and network equipment need, because electronics are fragile in ways that are not visible and a device that arrives working but was handled roughly becomes a problem several weeks later.

For businesses with recurring furniture movements rather than a single relocation, a growing company reconfiguring space or a firm servicing multiple sites, a standing arrangement under commercial transportation is usually a better fit than booking each move separately.

Before the day

The preparation that saves the most time

A few things reliably shorten a moving day, and none of them cost anything.

Confirm parking. In much of Montreal the difference between stopping outside the door and carrying everything sixty metres is a permit or a neighbour moving a car. Tell us where the vehicle can realistically stop and, if a permit is needed, arrange it in advance.

Book the lift if there is one. In buildings that require it, an unbooked lift can cost an hour of crew time before anything is even loaded.

Have boxes closed and labelled by room. We are happy to work around an unfinished pack, but a crew standing by while a cupboard is emptied is billable time doing nothing.

Set aside what you want with you rather than in the vehicle. Documents, medication, chargers, keys. It is the single most common thing people wish they had done.

Why clients come back

What actually matters on the day

01

Punctual

The crew arrives when it was agreed. Everything else in a moving day is scheduled off that first hour.

02

Careful

Wrapped, padded and loaded properly, by people who do it daily rather than by whoever was free that weekend.

03

Priced honestly

Quoted against the real job, stairs included. No renegotiation halfway through the afternoon.

04

Organised

A plan for the load, the route and the unload, so the day has a shape rather than being improvised.

How it works

How a move is arranged

Four steps, and the first one is the one that matters.

01

Tell us what is moving

Inventory, both addresses, floors, lift access and your date.

02

We quote it properly

Against the real job: volume, distance, access and realistic time.

03

The date is held

Crew and vehicle assigned. Book early for peak lease turnover dates.

04

Moved and set down

Wrapped, loaded, transported and placed in the room where it belongs.

Older clients and vulnerable movers

When the furniture is the smaller problem

Some moves are not really about the furniture. An older person leaving a home of forty years, or somebody moving into a residence, is going through something the boxes are only a small part of.

Mention it at booking. A move like that benefits from a slower pace, more explanation, and a crew who understand that being asked to hurry is the worst part of the day. Where it helps, we can pair the move with our non-medical assisted transportation so the person is collected, supported and settled rather than left to navigate around a working crew.

Our accompaniment staff hold first aid and CPR certification and have passed criminal and vulnerable sector background checks. Where a move involves somebody who needs that level of care, we can staff it accordingly.

Before you book

What we can and cannot do

Moving is physical work with real constraints, and we would rather set expectations at the quote than on the day.

  • Greater Montreal area coverage
  • Walk-ups and stairs handled
  • Weekend availability
  • Fragile items flagged in advance
  • No specialised piano or safe moving
  • No storage facilities

Where a job needs equipment or expertise we do not have, a grand piano, a safe, anything requiring specialised rigging, we say so at the quote and, where we can, point you to somebody who does it properly.

FAQ

Moving and relocation questions

Both, and small moves make up a large part of what we do. A single room, a few pieces of furniture, a studio apartment. These are often the jobs larger movers price out of reach or decline outright. A one room relocation is real work and we treat it that way.

Yes. Furniture transportation and furniture delivery are separate services from a full move. A sofa collected from a seller, a wardrobe moved between apartments, a delivery from a store that does not deliver. Same careful handling, priced for the job rather than for a whole day.

Yes. Weekend service is available, which matters given how many Quebec leases turn over on the same date. Book early for the busiest dates, because availability around the traditional moving season is genuinely finite.

Very common in Montreal and entirely normal for us. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift at booking so the crew and the time are planned properly. A third floor walk-up is a different job from a ground floor flat, and pretending otherwise leads to an overrun.

Items are wrapped and secured for the journey, and loading is handled by our crew rather than left to you. Damage in transit is almost always a loading and securing problem rather than a driving one, which is where we concentrate the care.

Against the actual work: volume, distance, floor and lift access, and how long it will realistically take. We do not publish rates, because a headline price that ignores a third floor walk-up is not a real price. Tell us what is moving and from where, and we will quote it properly.

Yes. Montreal Island, Laval, the North Shore and the South Shore, with province wide coverage available for special assignments. Local moving services within the Greater Montreal area make up the bulk of our relocation work.

Yes, and it is worth mentioning at booking. Moves involving older people or clients with reduced mobility benefit from a slower pace and more communication, and we can pair the move with our assisted transport service so the person is looked after on the day rather than left to manage around a working crew.

We handle wrapping and protection for furniture as part of the move. Tell us at quote if you want us to take on more of the packing, because it changes both the crew size and the time, and finding out on the morning helps nobody.
